Phones With the Best Battery Life : Have you ever felt your cell phone vibrate and pulled it out of your pocket, expecting to to see a text or e-mail message, only to see a low-battery warning instead? Surely, you’ve uttered the dreaded words, “My phone is dying, so I have to say this fast!”
It may be time to consider investing in a phone with better battery life.

Verizon 4G MiFi here soon

The Verizon 4G (LTE) network blew my socks off when I tested it at launch here in Houston. While the HTC Thunderbolt 4G is currently available from Big Red to tap the fast network, I have been anxiously awaiting for a 4G MiFi to tap into that speed. The appearance of MiFi units from Samsung and Novatel have appeared on an internal Verizon rebate list, indicating they may be on store shelves soon.

The MiFi unit is my preferred method of tapping into mobile networks. Slightly bigger than a credit card, the MiFi can be used to get multiple devices onto the network anywhere there is coverage, using the devices’ WiFi connection. The Samsung 4G MiFi I saw last month in action was super-fast and an ideal way to tap into the LTE network with any WiFi-enabled laptop or tablet.

I dropped Verizon last year and headed to the Sprint 4G (WiMAX) network, which I have not regretted. But speed is king, and the LTE network just might be enough to get me back with Big Red, at least for data. All that is missing is the MiFi, which I captured on video last month.

Motorola Atrix 4G to be updated soon | fixes revealed

It’s almost time for software version 4.1.57 to roll out to the Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone. Motorola has already revealed the big fixes.

The release isn’t available just yet, but here’s are the improvements that we can expect:

Improved multimedia experience with Bluetooth devices and the ability to use phone with additional headsets
Improved fingerprint reader performance
Improved battery performance for longer battery life
Display turns off automatically while charging directly on wall charger
Improved stability resulting in fewer occurrences of touch unresponsiveness and/or programs quitting unexpectedly.
Improved performance when using car dock and 3.5mm jack

It would be nice to have some specifics regarding those upgrades (especially about the battery life), but we’ll just have to wait and see on those. Additionally, it doesn’t look like we’ll see HSUPA with this update, but Android Central reports that AT&T is busy at work on that front.

When v.4.1.57 (sized at 17MB) is ready, it will go out over the air but can also be installed manually using the Settings menu.

T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Shipping this spring, the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G picks up where the Sidekick series left off with the addition of Android 2.2, 4G support (up to 21Mbps), and a 1GHz Hummingbird processor. Pricing was not announced at this time.

HTC EVO 4G | HTC Thunderbolt with LTE

Verizon and HTC finally announced that the HTC Thunderbolt will be hitting Verizon this Thursday, 17 March. This is the first LTE smartphone available on Verizon and as a major HTC EVO 4G fan, rated it the #1 smartphone twice last year, I quickly went over to Wirefly and purchased mine for $199.99. The Thunderbolt runs at $249.99 from Verizon Wireless with a 2-year contract.
